Beaverton's West Slope neighborhood has been rated #3 best neighborhoods in Portland and #8 best neighborhoods in Oregon. It's home to about 6900 residents and offers an urban/suburban mix and feel and most residents own their own homes. It's close to restaurants, coffee shops, parks, markets, and outdoor spaces. West Slope is known for great schools, diversity, families and nightlife.
West Slope is in Washington County to the west of Portland's West Hills neighborhood in the northwest of Raleigh Hills south of US 26. It's home to Ridgewood elementary school and just outside the boundary is the West Sylvan middle school. The Raleigh Swim Center, AM Kennedy Park, and other parks are located within the community as well. Golf Creek runs north and south to the center of West Slope.
West Slope Schools
All part of the Beaverton School District, most students are assigned to the West Sylvan middle school, Raleigh Park Elementary, Ridgewood elementary, or Walker elementary, and high school students attend the Beaverton high school. Middle school students have the choice of either the West Sylvan middle school or the Whitford or Cedar Park middle school.
As with other neighborhoods in Beaverton, the West Slope has its own neighborhood Association. The Association meets on the third Tuesday of most months. "West slope continues to explore the possibilities for the former nursery property in the neighborhood now owned by the Tualatin Hills Park and recreation department. Their goal is to eventually turn the property into a neighborhood park." - Association Current Agenda
West slope has a walk score of 29, a bike score of 49, and a transit score of 33. Public transit in West Slope is provided by Tri-Met and there are two bus stops in West Slope located at Southwest Canyon and Linden Road and Southwest Canyon and Canyon Drive.
Due to its close proximity to the two major highways, West Slope remains a great place to call home for commuters. The Providence St. Vincent Medical Center is right across the highway, Peterkort Towne Square is just a couple of minutes from most homes in the community and features an Outback, Right Aid, and a few other markets. Along SW. Canyon Rd., which runs east and west through West Slope you'll find several markets, restaurants, businesses, and shops and just south of the southern border of West slope along SW. Beaverton Hillsdale Hwy. are multiple shops and restaurants, markets, and daily necessities and services. Downtown Portland is about 15 minutes away and you're pretty much in the middle of downtown Beaverton.
