Relocating to Linnton
Although it is still part of the city, it's that the northwest tip of what would be considered downtown Portland. Built on a ridge that overlooks the Willamette River, most homes and residential properties in Linnton have steep driveways and beautiful forest and river views. This private neighborhood is quite out of the way but still offers close connection to downtown along Highway 30. While you would think this is primarily residential, Linnton actually has a good mix of both industrial and commercial services and amenities lining both sides of Highway 30 with residential properties tucked in around Forest Park.
Things to Do in Linnton
Even though this is a very narrow strip between the park and the river, there are a few services and amenities inside Linnton including Lighthouse Inn, known for its amazing and massive burgers, delicious sandwiches, and gourmet mac & cheese. Decoy is also a great little gastropub and tavern serving up unique Chinese food and standard American fare. The Linnton Community Center offers summer camps for kids, preschool, before and after school care, and a food pantry providing food boxes to families in need around the Northwest Portland area.
Linnton is also home to St. John's Bridge, a local landmark spanning the Willamette River connecting Linnton to Cathedral neighborhoods. It was built in 1929 and offers a unique Gothic look rising out of the mist and trees across the river. It is one of only 3 Major Hwy. suspension bridges in the entire state.
Residence with school-age children are part of the Portland school district and have access to several schools such as Skyline Elementary for Grades K-8, Emerson school, and the Opal Charter school for elementary students, Metropolitan learning Center and da Vinci middle school, and the Lincoln high school, and Benson Polytechnic high school.
